Our client requires a Chief Mechanical Equipment Engineer to manage a specialist group and supervise all engineering work carried out within the group.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Co-ordination of the operations of the group and to ensure that all aspects of Company Policy are followed.
To ensure that overall Company Policy for achieving quality as described in the Company Quality Manual is followed by all staff in the group.
To ensure that staff within the group have the technical skills and experience appropriate for all aspects of the groups activities on projects undertaken by the Company and when necessary advise the Engineering Manager of training and recruitment needs.
To identify development needs, organize development activities, provide support and coaching to individuals, to assess the effectiveness of development and to set objectives, assess performance and provide feedback.
To manage activities to provide the necessary protection to employees, clients and other third parties and the general public.
To be aware of legal and organizational responsibilities regarding Health, Safety and Environmental issues with respect to employees, contractors, clients and third parties, ensuring that activities are managed in accordance with Company policy and Client requirements.
Note:
In the above descriptions the term "design" is used in its broadest sense and covers design calculations, specifications, equipment selection and bid evaluation, requisitioning of equipment, approval of suppliers documentation and provision of contract documentation.
Dimensions
The Chief Engineer is the Company`s highest authority in his/her specialised discipline.
Chief Engineers are responsible for all design approvals in their field but may delegate approval authority as defined in Procedure for Safe Design (ENGD-202).
Nature and Scope of Position
The job holder reports to the Engineering Manager. Also reporting to the Engineering Manager are other Chief Engineers and Specialist Engineers.
Ensure personal compliance with current Company policy, relevant legislation and company and client`s requirements for Health, Safety and Environmental matters and work in such a manner not to cause personal harm or injury to fellow workers, client and subcontractors employees or the environment.
Knowledge and Skills
A degree or equivalent in Engineering.
Chartered Engineer and/or 12-15 years experience in his/her specialist field.
