Housing Support Worker

An opportunity has become available to work for a respected client based in Darlington for a 5-month contract, part time, 16 hours per week.



As a Housing Support Worker you will be required to provide general support to 12 tenants. You will be providing support to individuals (20-60yrs) with a range of needs including substance misuse issues and mental health. You will teach them life-skills and signpost them to agencies with the respective aim of helping them to lead successful and independent lives within the community.  

Main responsibilities will include:

·         Provide general support to tenants with a range of needs so that they can maintain their accommodation and thrive within the community.

·         Teaching service users "life-skills" including paying bills, shopping, gaining employment.

·         Updating support plans and ensuring tenants are aware of their rights and responsibilities.  

·         Liaising with external agencies such as benefits agencies, helping them with forms and advising them on support available to them.

· Carry out scheme inspections and find suitable service users for vacant properties.

If you are interested in applying for this role, candidates should have the following:



- Recent or relevant experience of working as a support worker and dealing with vulnerable service users with a range of needs.

- Be capable of working unsupervised and be aware of lone working policies.

- Must have or be willing to under an Enhanced CRB disclosure.

- It would be advantageous if applicants have access to their own transport.
