quilting and knitting friends

Hi,
I'm 24 just moving into the Mddlesbrough area, and am looking to join a knitting club, (i'm just starting out but am wanting to learn and improve) there are quite a few 'knit and natter' clubs where i have moved from and was wondering if their was anything similar in the Middlesbrough area.
also is their any classes teaching quiting, or anyone interested in imparting the knowledge... i haven't got much money but i can provide biscuits and good company.
