Layout Designer

Our Client is a leading global provider of engineering and construction services, technology products and integrated solutions. They are actively seeking an experience Layout Designer with experience in Project Engineering for projects in the Non-Ferrous Industry, with particular emphasis on the design of base metal concentrators from run of mine input to final concentrate product.

A good candidate must be able to do the following:

Carry out design activities and calculations, including the production of 2D and 3D CAD drawings, schedules, other documents, man-hour estimates for CAD work, interpreting clients’ technical specifications and other related activities, to meet project requirements.

Lead the design activities of self and other discipline designers on a project, to ensure delivery meets scope, time, cost and quality.

Check the work of more junior staff to delivery a quality functional input to projects.

Ensure that own work and that of more junior designers on a project complies with all necessary corporate, departmental and legislative requirements and procedures, to guarantee that the necessary consistency and quality of delivery is maintained.

Provide functional support and guidance to more junior staff to develop both them as individuals and the capability of the team as a whole Work with other engineering functions on a project to ensure inter-disciplinary alignment and coherence.

Carry out design activities at client site as required, to meet individual project or client needs.

Skills and knowledge

Interested individuals will be qualified to minimum HND, with a level of experience compatible with the role.

Experience of plant layout design for materials handling or minerals processing facilities, involving conveyors, mills crushers etc.

Must be proficient with AutoCAD 2D.

Experience with PDMS, PDS or other 3D modeling advantageous but not essential.
